2003 Motivated by their shared conception of higher education and common desire to harness private resources for the school’s development, ABB, EDF, the FIEEC, RTE, Schlumberger, Schneider Electric, and the Supelec Engineers Association create the Supelec Foundation — under the aegis of the Fondation de France — to support Supelec’s development and enhance its reputation, especially at the global level.
The Supelec Foundation is a foundation with a financial endowment:
· its budget and activities are determined based on the revenue generated by returns on its capital
· this revenue is supplemented by ‘ongoing’ donations, according to the wishes of the donors
2005 The Research Foundation status entitles the Supelec Foundation to receive a matching grant from the state of 5.72 millions euros which has doubled the amount of funds raised since its creation.
2006 The revenue generated by its capital endowment provides for its initial operating budget and funding for various projects (research and doctoral grants, fellowships, visiting professorships).
2008 The foundation applies to obtain Public Interest status (R.U.P., or Reconnaissance d’Utilité Publique)
The Supelec Foundation applies for the status of Public Interest Foundation in order to:
· enhance its reputation
· be able to accept donations of all kinds
· be the beneficiary of bequests and be able to maintain them
· exercise full control over its investments and its real estate management policy
2009 The Supelec Foundation obtains Public Interest status
by the decree of November 11, 2009, published in the Journal Officiel dated November 15, 2009
