Board of Trustees
The Foundation is governed by a 12-member Board, which is divided into three groups: 4 members comprising a group of founders, 4 members comprising a group of experts, and 4 members comprising a group of ‘friends’ of the foundation. The board elects a president from among its members.
President
Since 2005, Jean Pisani-Ferry has served as President of the Supelec Foundation.
Jean Pisani-Ferry is the director of Bruegel, a Brussels-based think tank working in the field of European economic policy, and a professor of economics at the University of Paris-Dauphine. Through the course of his career, Jean Pisani-Ferry has moved between the worlds of research and economic policy-making. He has held positions as an economist at the Centre d’études prospectives et d’informations internationals (CEPII) (1977-1981); a project manager at the Commissariat Général du Plan (1981-1983); head of the macro-economic department at CEPII (1983-89); economic advisor to the director-general of economic and financial affairs of the European Commission (1989-1992); director of CEPII (1992-1997); senior economic advisor to the French Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industry; senior advisor (2000-2001) and executive president (2001-2002) of the French prime minister’s Economic Advisory Council; and senior advisor to the director of the French treasury (2002-2004). Jean Pisani-Ferry has taught at CEPE (1979-1985), Sciences Po (1984-89), the Free University of Brussels (1990-95), Ecole Centrale (1993-96), and Ecole Polytechnique (1995-2004). He has served as president of the Association Française de Science Economique (2006-2007). Born in 1951, Jean Pisani-Ferry is a Supelec-trained engineer, with a Master’s degree (DEA) in Mathematics, and an advanced graduate degree in Economics from the Centre d’études des programmes economiques (CEPE). His recent work has focused on European questions. He has authored and contributed to many books and reports, including: The Euro at Ten: The Next Global Currency? (2009); Europe declassée? (2005), in collaboration with Olivier Blanchard and Charles Wyplosz; Economic Policy (2004); An Agenda for a Growing Europe: The Sapir Report (2004); The Europe We Want (2002), in collaboration with Pascal Lamy; Coming of Age: A Report on the Euro Area (2008); Economic Policy Co-ordination in the Eurozone: What Has Been Achieved? What Should Be Done? (2001); and, “Full Employment: A French Perspective” (2000). Jean Pisani-Ferry is currently a member of the French Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and the European Commission’s Group of Economic Policy Analysis (GEPA). He has a column in Le Monde and is a regular contributor to many other European newspapers. |

Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee, which serves both the Foundation and Supelec itself, has the essential mandate of providing guidance as to the general orientation and specific activities of the Foundation.
The Committee meets at least once a year in plenary session, upon notice by the president. It is assisted by seven sub-committees, one for each of Supelec’s scientific and technical fields.
